Today we did DOL 1 and updated our reading logs with our Term 1 reading books. Then, we went to the library and did a book browse activity for the last half of class. The book browse assignment is in the manila folders at the entrance to class.
Today we turned in our final drafts of our fanfiction and turned in our books. To end class, we held our final discussion of the Hunger Games.
Today we took the very last quiz for our Term 1 whole class novel. We discussed the reading briefly and then turned in our second drafts. I spent the class editing them for imagery and scoring them and then passed them back so that you could take your paper home and write your final draft. Your final draft is due (highlighted) on Monday (A) and Tuesday (B) of next week.
Today we took Quiz #9 for The Hunger Games and I gave points for first drafts being completed. The last half of class, we edited each other's first drafts by annotating each other's Google docs and filling out rubrics for each other's fanfictions. Make sure that you show me your first draft and get your first draft completely edited.
Your homework is to take those comments and any other suggestions your peer reviewers made and, using your own creativity, edit your paper extensively for your second draft. Your second draft is due on Friday (A) and Monday (B). You need to highlight the changes that you made to your draft before you turn it in to me. Today we took Quiz #8 of The Hunger Games, which was all extra credit. The latter part of class we began working on our fanfictions. The first draft of your Hunger Games fanfiction is due Wednesday (A) and Thursday (B) of this week. We are going to be editing each other's papers.
Today we did DOL #14 and took Quiz #7 of the Hunger Games. Then, we discussed satire, types of satire, and, specifically, parody. The notes for satire were Writer's Notebook #14. You will need to send me an email so I can send you the power point so that you can take notes on satire. For homework, you will need to create a satirical piece mocking an element of the Hunger Games that is worthy of mocking. Bring those next time. Today we did a DOL and took Quiz #6 for the Hunger Games. For the writer's notebook, I passed back your brainstorms last time and had the class research their character or event so that they know everything that they need to in order to write their fanfiction summary. We also watched another fanfiction video called Weeping Willow. Today we did a DOL and took Quiz #5 for The Hunger Games. We watched another Fanfiction video about Finnick Odair in his Hunger Games that he won and we brainstormed ideas for our fanfiction stories for the writer's notebook.. |
