Today we summarized and critiqued our books for our third term reading. Make sure that you come in and get a book report paper and do your book report during flex.
Today we wrote our bucket list. Make sure that your list is MLA format, Times New Roman, 12 point font and that it uses the elements of argumentation as well. Your essay is due at the end of class.
Today we watched the TED Talk about Bucket Lists and then created our own bucket lists. We then discussed the argumentative paper and prepped for it by brainstorming a big list of bucket list events. We also turned in our writer's notebooks. .
Today we read and analyzed and discussed in groups Emily Dickinson's poem "Because I Could Not Stop for Death" and watched the video "Boston Strong" below and turned in our textual analysis paper. Make sure that you look at all of the texts and fill out the handout before turning in your paper.
Today we read an excerpt from Lance Armstrong's memoir It's Not about the Bike and annotated it and analyzed it together. We also watched the e60 presentation "Catching Kayla" and filled out the text analysis paper.
day 4: textual analysis of "The finish line," "three things I learned when my plane crashed," and "The Assist" (January 15)
Today I passed out the textual analysis assignment and we began to work on our analysis of texts with tragedy and challenges by watching three different clips. You'll need to get the handout from the manila folders by the door and watch the clips below.
Today we read and annotated Marie Howe's poem "What the Living Do" and discussed it in our tables. Then I gave the class the rest of the time to finish the goal posters. You'll need to grab the poem out of the manila folders near the door and finish it and turn in your goal poster.
Today we watched Prince Ea's "Everybody Dies but not Everybody Lives" and responded to it in our notebooks by writing about the differences between really living and purely existing. Then I presented the goal poster assignment to the class and we started working on our goal posters. You'll need to get the assignment out of the manila folder and grab some magazines and create your goal poster. I also passed out hall passes. You can get those from me at your convenience.
Welcome back! Hope that your holiday was amazing. Today we went to the library and did a scavenger hunt to browse books that might be worth reading this term. You'll need to get a packet from the manila folders on the wall near the door and complete the scavenger hunt. There is a different packet for honors than there is for the regular classes. Have fun!
