Today, I passed back your book proposals and we did DOL #2. Afterward, we discussed the purpose of dystopian literature. For Writer's Notebook #2, you'll need to email me for the powerpoint and take extensive notes on the characteristics and purposes of dystopian fiction. Make sure that you start bringing your Term 2 book to class starting next class period. There will be a book check.

Today we started class with a DOL and I did a few book talks of books I think that you'd like to read for this term. Then, we took the ACT practice test for 30 minutes and then corrected it. Make sure you come in and take the test during flex or before or after school and propose your book to me.
Today we took Quiz #9 for Warriors don't Cry (our second-to-last quiz and we presented our Two-Voice Poems. After school, we had our Battle of the Books tournament. Good job all of the participants!
Today we took Quiz #8 for Warriors don't Cry and finished writing our Two-Voice poems. You need to print off your poems and be ready to read them on Tuesday of next week. Can't wait!
Today we took Quiz #7 for Warriors don't Cry and we discussed how to write your Warriors don't Cry poems. I shared some of your fun Two-Voice Poems and we went to the writing lab to start writing our poems.
Today we did a DOL and took QUiz 6 of Warriors don't Cry. I also explained your final project for this term, which is to write a two-voice poem from the perspective of two characters in Warriors don't Cry. I showed an example and we wrote practice poems from the perspective of two characters of our choosing. You can type and print your poem for extra credit.
Day 17: Quiz #6 for Warriors don't Cry and final Project discussion and practice (October 9)10/9/2017 Today we did a DOL on hyphens and took Quiz #6 for Warriors don't Cry. We talked about the final project for Warriors don't Cry and practiced writing one between two of our favorite characters.
Today we did a DOL and took Quiz #5 for Warriors don't Cry. Afterward, we wrote Writer's Notebook #11 on the definition of empathy and we watched a TED talk on the Erosion of Empathy and discussed it and the chapter. Today we took Quiz 4 of Warriors don't Cry and drafted our Shard of Memory poem. For homework, you need to go home and type up your poem, give it a title, and improve it. Turn in a typed draft of your poem next class period on Thursday.
