Today we finished our textual analysis assignment by reading an excerpt from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Then, we discussed the Sage Test, which we'll be taking the two days we get back from break. Make sure that you don't miss those days.

Day 6: "Death is the destination we all share" analysis and Bucket list assignment (March 27)3/27/2018 Today we continued to read our books to prep for the book review on April 16. We watched a speech given by Steve Jobs about him finding out he has terminal cancer, and then we created a bucket list. Make sure that you fill out the text analysis assignment and bring it next time so that we can finish it and turn it in. Today we finished our textual analysis of the Ice Bucket Challenge and turned in our writer's notebooks from last time. We read aloud Emily Dickinson's poem "Because I could not stop for Death" and discussed it in groups. We filled out the textual analysis handout about the videos from last time and the poem today to end class.
Today we had a book check and we continued working on our textual analysis assignment. We discussed last time's reading and watched 4 separate clips and responded to them in our writer's notebooks. We filled out the textual analysis assignment to end class. Day 3: Book check, It's not about the bike annotation, and goal poster assignment (March 19)3/19/2018 Today I approved book proposals and we discussed annotation. We read an excerpt from Lance Armstrong's autobiography, "It's not about the bike," and turned in our goal posters.
Day 2: Scavenger Hunt, Hall passes, 30 day Challenge, and goal poster assignment (March 15)3/15/2018 Today we finished the scavenger hunt assignment and I passed out hall passes. We watched a TED Talk where I challenged the class to do something new for 30 days. Once we talked about some tentative goals, I presented the Goal Poster assignment and we worked on that assignment for the rest of class. You'll need to finish it for homework and start bringing your personal reading book for next time. Welcome to 4th Term! I'm so excited to be back. Today we updated our reading logs from the first of the year and wrote down all of the books we've read over the year, including in-class novels, book report books, and Battle of the Books books. We turned those in. We also watched the following video to begin discussing our essential question this term, "What is the difference between living and existing?". Your writer's notebook response needs to be two paragraphs. Finally, we went to the library and did a scavenger hunt. You will need to be in the library to complete this activity if you were absent. You can come and get the assignment from me at any time. For homework, you will need to propose your book you'd like to read on the Google Form in the previous post. Again, it's so good to be with you. Mr. Gagnier |
