What makes the Hunger Games so popular? If it hadn't been a dystopian novel, do you think that the storyline itself would have been enough? In other words, is the story good enough to make it ultra-popular or is the fact that dystopian stories are popular right now the reason why it has become so popular? Also, what makes it popular? Why do people like it so much? What elements does it have?

My dad says hunger games is good because it scares him. It's something that could actually happen. If someone has gathered up a whole race of people to exterminate them, what's to stop them from killing children? I don't think this would be as popular if it wasn't dystopian. Probably because it is so different. I heard from most girls that they like how it is an independent woman, rather than in twilight how she is so clingy to Edward. I think that the story line is enough to make it popular, but that is just my opinion. I think people liked it because it was interesting and people could relate in a way. 9/4/2012 08:42:03 am

The Hunger Game is popular because that the story is interesting and I think that Katniss is really brave and face what she is up to. I love that she stand up for others and help the peoples that helped her. If it hasn't been a dystopian story, I think that the story wouldn't even flow well. Everything will just be to well to get in to a kill. I think that the book is so different to others and people just are pull to the things that they have never read about. 9/4/2012 07:22:21 am
The novel reflects society that can make people scared about what lies ahead. Everybody thinks what in the world would happen when the economy falls, or if the country quit being a country. Everything people fear might come to reality and will want to make them change. 9/4/2012 07:27:43 am
I finished reading The Hunger Games this weekend, and then I watched the movie. I was super impressed with the entire storyline of The Hunger Games and at some points I was actively sad to see the book come to an end. The movie, however, did not capture the raw power that the book had to offer. The only scene in the movie worth any viewing, is the District Eleven Riot scene, because riots are awesome. The story is popular because it shows true desperation, a kill or be killed environment, demonstrating a rich get richer while the poor get poorer society, a society so bored with their easy lives, that they actively enjoy when innocent children are slaughtered by their so called brothers. It shows that while they may not agree with The Hunger Games, they will sit by and do nothing, and apathy is the most dangerous thing in existence. People adore a good love story, and after reading this, I have seen one of the better romances in literature. People also love a good, strong female character, one who is willing to do what is necessary, despite not knowing what she can do. 9/6/2012 08:28:55 am

It's popular because it's something that us readers would probably never think of. It's interesting and different. I don't think it would have been enough, because mostly the WHOLE book has to do with dystopia. It's a different kind of story. People are fascinated by it because it mixes in with courageous, bravery, love, mystery, action and so much more. It is a combination into what everyone loves. Comments are closed.
