Today we finally had our first discussion day and then analyzed the characters in our books, outlining the archetypes that the characters belong to in the book so far. We ended class by talking about fairy tale and urban fantasy literature.
Today we discussed urban fantasy literature and turned in our funko pop assignment. We discussed archetypal characters and did an assignment with those characters and postponed discussion day 1 until next time. I graded the packets and passed them back.
day 13: Royal ramifications literature and top 10 favorite characters ever writer's notebook (Feb 7)
Today I passed out the homework for next time (Funko Pop Assignment and the Lit Circle Packet). Make sure that you're ready for class next time. We also discussed War Fantasy and Royal Ramifications Literature and wrote a list of our Top 10 favorite characters of all time.
Today I book talked your choices for your literature circles this term and we filled out the packet for the literature circles we'll be doing the next few weeks. To end class, we discussed Gothic Fantasy and Horror Fantasy Literature. Make sure that you've sent me your Final Projects for An Ember in the Ashes.
I'm gone to the Bahamas so you'll finish your reading of An Ember in the Ashes and draft, edit, and rewrite your Ember in the Ashes final project while I'm gone. Submit to me the second draft before I return over Google docs.
Day 7: Ember quiz #5, 90s fantasy literature, and the fellowship of the thing wrap-around story (Jan 22)
Today we took Quiz #5 for An Ember in the Ashes and began discussing the reading. We discussed 90s Fantasy Literature and wrote a wrap-around story for our meeting with Lord Soth. Make sure that you turn in those stories.
Day 6: Quiz #4 for Ember in the ashes, 70s and 80s kids fantasy, and the fellowship of the thing (Jan 17)
Today we took Quiz #4 for An Ember in the Ashes and discussed the reading. Then we talked about 70s and 80s fantasy and filled out our bingo sheets. We ended class by going through the fellowship of the thing activities.
Day five: Quiz #3 of An ember in the ashes, the golden age of fantasy literature, and the fellowship of the thing maze activity (jan 16)
Today we took Quiz #3 for An Ember in the Ashes and discussed the Golden Age of Fantasy Literature. We ended class by doing an activity with the Fellowship of the Thing and turned in our "The Gathering of the Fellowship" short stories.
day 4: Ember in the ashes quiz #2, 30s and 40s fantasy literature, character creation assignment, and your gathering the fellowship summary (Jan 11)
Today we continued our discussion of An Ember in the Ashes and we took Quiz #2. We discussed 30s and 40s Fantasy Literature, and we turned in our character creation assignment. At the end of class, I gave you the rest of the time to finish your "Gathering the Fellowship" Summary Stories. Those are due next class.
