Today we took Red Rising Quiz #7 and discussed the reading. We did Writer's Notebook #6 on your favorite scenes in the story and discussed time and interdimensional travel science fiction. Get ready for the Ready Player One field trip next time!
Today we took Quiz #8 for Red RIsing and worked on our final projects. If you went to the field trip, you don't need to do the Quiz or the Writer's Notebook. You will need to work on the final project assignment.
Today we took Quiz #6 and discussed Red Rising. We did a writer's notebook on what we learn about being human from Darrow, Eo, Titus, the Golds, the Reds, and the Red Rising society. We talked about 90s science fiction and to end class, we turned in our Osgiliath writing assignment. Today we took Quiz #5 for Red Rising and talked about Cold War Science Fiction. We watched a TED talk and talked about what it means to be human for the writer's notebook. To end class, we started writing the Osgiliath Writing Assignment. Today we took Quiz #4 of Red Rising and wrote about our favorite fictional settings for the writer's notebook. We presented our Laureltide songs and I collected permission slips for the Ready Player One field trip. Finally, we ended class talking about Cold War Scifi.
Today we took Quiz 4 for Red Rising and we discussed the golden age of science fiction. I passed out the permission slips for Ready Player One and we discussed the movie and watched the trailer. Today we took Quiz #3 and discussed the reading. We finished discussing the origins of science fiction and filled out the bingo sheets. To end class, we reread the Red's entrance into the awarding of the Laurel and drafted our own Laureltide song. The song is due next time.
Today we took our first quiz for Red Rising and discussed the chapter. Afterward, we discussed some allusions in the novel and watched the video of one of the allusions from the film The Great Dictator, annotated the text, and discussed how the speech applies to Red Rising. To end class, I passed out the bingo sheets and we began discussing the origins of science fiction literature. |
