Today we DOL #2 and had a book check for your Term 4 book. To end class, we watched the documentary "The White Helmets." It is on Netflix.
Today we did our first DOL of the new term and discussed the new Vista Project for this term. I showed an example slideshow to demonstrate how to create the Vista Project powerpoint properly and then we began filling out our March Madness brackets and presenting our upsets and future matchups.
Day 63: Microaggression bingo, maz jobrani, hall passes, and march madness activity (March 12 and 13)
Today we started class with a discussion of a poem written by Afghani poet Fatima Asghar called "Microaggression Bingo." and then watched a video by Iranian comedian Maz Jobrani about Middle Eastern stereotypes. I passed out hall passes and we continued our work on the March Madness bracket book presentations. We will present during the next class.
Today we browsed the books in our March Madness Tournament Bracket and researched 16 of them, writing down their star rating, how many reviews they've received, and what people have said about them in preparation for presenting them in a few days. Book proposals next time.
The term ended this week. We had our final quiz, final discussion, and did our final Vista Project presentations. See you 4th Term!
Today we read Cry the Beloved Country (A1 and A3) and A Long Way Gone (B7) and took Quiz #8 for the reading. We spent the rest of the class period presenting our Vista Projects. Just a reminder that the last day to turn in any late work for this term is this Friday, March 1, by 2:30 PM. Also, if you are participating in the Battle of the Books, the next Battle is Tuesday, March 5 for sophomores and Wednesday, March 6 for juniors.
