Today we took quiz #6 and #7 and did DOL #6, discussing more subject/verb agreement rules. The second half of class we peer edited each other's papers and discussed that you need to take that draft home and edit it and bring the second draft next time.
Today we did DOL #5 and took Quiz #6 for our class novel. We discussed the reading and shared our first drafts with each other and peer edited them with a rubric. Be sure to bring your draft again next time so that we can peer edit it again.
Today we took Quiz #5 and discussed the reading. We then drafted our final project with the mobile lab. Next class, you need to bring a printed copy of your draft to class so that we can peer edit them next time.
Today we took Quiz #4 and discussed the reading. Afterward, we brainstormed ideas for our final projects and started working on them on the laptops.
Today we discussed subject-verb agreement and did DOL #3. We took Quiz #3 for our book and annotated an example of your final project and discussed it and turned it in. Finally, we did Writer's Notebook #11, proposing ideas for our final project for this unit.
Today we did DOL #2, Quiz #2 and discussed the final project for this term. We looked at an example, annotated it, and discussed what we liked and didn't like.
Today we started our next round of DOLs, focusing on ACT principles. Right now, we're working on Subject-Verb Agreement. We read All the Light We Cannot See (A1 and A3) and The Book Thief (B7) and took our first quiz for the book. We talked about the reading as a class and then did a class activity to end class (St. Malo Maze in A1 and A3 and Book Thief Prologue Analysis in B7).
Today we wrote our Term 2 Book Report, a thematic analysis of the book. We also checked out our class novels and I passed out the reading schedule for the rest of the term. If you were absent, make sure you catch up in the reading. Quizzes start next time.
Today we read Elie Wiesel's "Hope, Despair, and Memory" and analyzed it. The Writer's Notebook was to respond to the speech and discuss how despair, forgetting the past, and how neglecting things that don't impact us are dangerous. Then, we wrote down the themes, topics, and main idea from the speech.
Today we continued discussing theme, topic, and main idea and wrote a practice paragraph to prepare for the book report. We discussed the book report and reviewed the 3X Strategy. Send me an email for the powerpoint so that you can get the notes you missed and know how to write the practice paragraph.
