Today we did a DOL and took Quiz #4 for FTKMF. Also, I presented the final project to the class and we analyzed an example of the project. For Writer's Notebook #11, we brainstormed ideas for our final project and wrote a summary paragraph of a legend we've heard before.

Today we did a DOL and took our 3rd quiz of the term. We discussed the reading and then watched a video about why we believe weird things and responded to it. Today we did DOL 9 and took our second quiz for First They Killed My Father. Then we wrote Writer's Notebook #9 proposing the people you are doing your Vista Project with and the culture and activities you are researching. To end class, we discussed the chapters and finished the anticipation guide.
Today we took our first quiz for First They Killed My Father and discussed the first reading. We did a DOL and started discussion on our anticipation guide. Make sure that you bring the anticipation guide next time so we can finish it.
We wrote our book reports today and checked out First They Killed My Father. Pages 1-22 are due on Tuesday. Can't wait to start!
Today we did DOL #7 and we brainstormed the list of significant moments as a class in the "Red Bandanna" clip and wrote our summaries individually. Afterward, I taught the class the 3X Strategy, which I would like you to use on the second half of your book report, as well as how to cite you book you chose to read for this first term.
Today I taught the class how to write your summaries for your book review. Then we watched the E60 clip "The Red Bandanna" and wrote a summary of the clip. Also, we did DOL 6. Today we did DOL 6 and took two different pretests (that took the entire class period.) We took a reading and writing pretest and then an ACT Pretest. The ACT Pretest was 70 questions and should have taken the last 45 minutes of the period. If you didn't take these, make sure that you come in and take them this week during flex sometime.
Day 6: Ethnocentrism DIscussion and the Matt Sczcur and Anastasia Olkahavskaya Story (Sept 4 and 5)9/9/2018 Today we discussed ethnocentrism more in-depth and then watched the following E60 Story and responded to the following prompt after watching: "Is Matt Sczcur ethnocentric before he donates his bone marrow? Is he less ethnocentric afterwards? What does it take for somebody to become less ethnocentric?" To end class, we filled out the assignment, "All the Books I've Ever Read" and turned it in. |
