Today we did our first DOL of the new term and then discussed two conventions of poetry: alliteration and oxymoron. We came up with examples and took some notes for our writer's notebooks. Then I passed out the poem packet and discussed your next poem, the apocryphilia poem. We started presenting the March Madness brackets at the end of class and filling out our mock brackets.
Today I passed out a survey that all sophomores are supposed to take from the district. Then we discussed your first writing assignment for the term, a poem called "Shard of Memory." We brainstormed ideas on our writer's notebooks and then continued our work on the March Madness presentations. We will present next class period. I've attached the instructions for the Shard of Memory Poem below.
Today we browsed the books in our March Madness Tournament Bracket and researched 16 of them, writing down their star rating, how many reviews they've received, and what people have said about them in preparation for presenting them in a few days. Book proposals next time.
