Today we took Quiz #6 and discussed the reading. We discussed time and interdimensional travel science fiction and then brainstormed ideas for our Osgiliath writing assignment. Next class, we will type the assignment in class.

We also continued discussing the history of science fiction and presented our fandom posters in the hallway. Make sure that if you haven't turned in your poster, you do so as soon as possible to get credit.
Today we took Quiz #4 for Red Rising and discussed the reading. Then we watched The Great Dictator again and analyzed and discussed how the speech applies to the storyline. The handout for the speech is by the door.
Today we took Quiz #3 of Red Rising and discussed 70s and 80s science fiction. Then we discussed the moment in Red Rising where Darrow sees two men buying tokens to visit a virtual setting of their choice and started writing the assignment. That assignment is due next class period. You'll need to get the assignment from the manila folder near the door and take the quiz during flex or before or after school.

To end class, we watched the Greatest Speech Ever by Charlie Chaplin and analyzed how it applied to the book. Today we checked out Red Rising, our first book of the year, and I passed out the reading schedules. I also passed out Bingo sheets and we started taking notes on the history of science fiction literature. To end class, we watched the TED talk "What makes you uniquely human?" and wrote a writer's notebook about it. Welcome to Science Fiction and Fantasy! Today we wrote about what we geek out about, took a reading survey, and did icebreaker bingo. I also passed out the fandom poster assignment and disclosure document before class was over. You'll need to get those assignments that you missed from the manila folders near the door of the classroom. Also, turn in the writer's notebook responding to the video below. |
